Born originally in New York City and raised in a small town of Hoboken, New Jersey by Cuban parents, Barbarito Capote aka DJ Dove had devoted most of his career fine-tuning the sultry sounds heard throughout his eleven years as a producer. His masterful skills as a DJ have allowed him to travel to many of the most romantic and exotic places on the planet. Each experience has contributed to his signature sound of rich blends of deep and dark soulful yet driving house music.
During the last few years, DJ Dove has performed along side some of the dance industries most prestigious names including Erick Morillo, DJ Disciple, Roger Sanchez, Murk Boys, Todd Terry, Robbie Rivera, and Benny Benassi. He has written and collaborated with renowned artists and producers such as Inaya Day, Heather Leigh West, Sandy Rivera, Junior Sanchez, DJ Exacta and Frankie Feliciano.
DJ Dove’s most notable productions have included Inaya Day’s “I’m Touched” and “Unkind” with Milk ‘N’ Sugar as well as “Nobody But You” featuring Ladylife which was licensed to 2 notable compilations by Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Sessions 11 and Toolroom Knights Volume 1 mixed by Paul Harris, “Don’t Make Me Wait 2007” versus The NYC Peech Boys and “You’re My Only” featuring Nora Doncheva. Some solo projects include “Love Me Right”, “Feel the Sun”, “I Want It All”, “Illusions”, “I’m Free”, and his remixes of Josh Winx’s “Don’t Laugh 2000”, Full Intention’s “Your Day Is Coming”, Roger Sanchez’s “Not Enough”, DJ Disciple featuring Michelle Weeks’ “Turn It Around” and his biggest remix to date Starkillers “Discoteka”. Through his talent, hard work, and commitment to house music, DJ Dove has earned a great deal of well deserved respect from his peers in the Dance Industry and has built a substantial fan base around the world.
DJ Dove began playing vinyl in 1990 with a mixture of sounds that included House, Reggae, Rap, Hip Hop and R&B and Disco. In the early 90’s, he has produced and hosted radio shows which comprise of his own “The DJ Dove Show”, which debuted in 1991. He also co-hosted a weekly spot with long-time friend DJ Disciple, “New York’s Best Kept Secret” (WNYE – 91.5FM) from 1991 until 1997. While DJ Dove communicated via radio to dance music enthusiasts in New York’s Metropolitan area, he focused on his skills as both Producer & DJ.
By 1998, DJ Dove’s talents as a DJ had earned him invitations to play at some of the world’s most prominent dance clubs which include Pacha & Privilege in Ibiza, Hard Times in Leeds (UK), Angels of Love and Club Pineta in Italy, Nocturnal, Space, and Nikki Beach in Miami and many New York legendary spots like Centrofly, Cain, Tunnel, Cheetah, Spy Bar, Spirit, Crobar, Pacha NYC, Pangaea, PM Lounge, Cielo, and Pink Elephant both in NYC and in the Hamptons. In October 2006, he accomplished a major feat by being the first DJ to play house music at the Columbus Day Parade on the Made In Italy NYC float going up Fifth Avenue in NY which was telecasted on local TV including NBC and CNN everywhere.
DJ Dove continues to amaze his audiences throughout the dance scene and is extremely dedicated to his studio work. He has been working with brand new talent, writing and producing music with Rich Blends of Pumping Soulful Funky House & Melodic Rhythms and Driving Beats.
2008 HIGHLIGHTS:
As 2008 takes its course, it has already been an exciting year as DJ Dove continues his mission towards success because of his dedication to his music and hard work. His new single DJ DOVE PRESENTS HIDDEN IDENTITY “My Woman” coming out on Charles Solana’s Miami based Southside Recordings label is set for release in July as well DJ DOVE featuring HEATHER LEIGH WEST “Closer” on Tenzendia Records Italy in September. Remix projects which include Phunk Investigation vs. Boy George “Generation Of Love 2008” on Absolutely Records, Artie Cabrera feat. Lisa Pure “Rainfalls” on Full Throttle Recordings, Ronnie Maze featuring Tyra Juliette “Give It Up” on Neurotic Groove Records set for release in the Summer and Kevin Bryant “Who You Wanna Be” on Gladys Pizarro’s new Launch Records label coming in September. DJ Dove is currently touring the U.S., Europe, and Canada including a new monthly residency in Washington, D.C. called Josephine Nightclub. Dove is continuously DJ-ing in New York City at highly publicized clubs like Pacha, Cielo, Water Taxi Beach, and Mansion NY as well as his weekly residency at his own event entitled “Divino” at Room Fifty5 @ The Dream Hotel, a monthly residency at Le Souk Lounge and Mantra Lounge, and events with Made In Italy NYC in NY plus tours in Italy. He is also the only U.S. Resident DJ for the highly regarded Made In Italy NYC organization now for 3 years strong. DJ Dove has made a return to the airwaves where it made him a household name in the industry. He currently has a weekly internet radio program entitled “The True Divine with DJ Dove” in the UK on www.ssradiouk.com.
